DESCRIPTION: Length up to 12mm. A distinctive creature with a sturdy red and black body that cannot be mistaken for anything else. One of our largest homopterans. BEHAVIOUR: Found on foodplants such as Dock, Nettles and grasses and jumps away when disturbed. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout south of the Scottish highlands. HABITAT: Woodland glades and grassy rides. PERIOD: April to August. |
